Laura Segura is a nationally recognized nonprofit executive whose career spans music, entertainment, philanthropy, advocacy, and community development.

She builds organizations around a simple conviction: meaningful change happens when people have the relationships, tools, resources, and opportunity to move forward together. Her leadership combines ambitious vision with operational rigor—and deep care for the people a mission exists to serve.

Across more than two decades, Laura has led large teams and budgets, guided national boards, generated eight-figure revenue, shaped public policy, produced major televised events, designed programs, and stewarded grants that strengthen careers and lives.

At MusiCares, Laura led a 38-person grantmaking and human-services organization with a $20 million budget and $25 million endowment. She oversaw grants and direct assistance for individuals and community organizations, doubled staff and services, grew the operating budget by $8 million, expanded the endowment by $6 million, and guided the organization through its two largest relief efforts.

She also led Person of the Year—music's largest charitable GRAMMY Week gala— raising more than $10 million annually, and founded The Day That Music Cares, mobilizing more than 4,000 volunteers in its first two campaigns.

Developing music philanthropy, workforce-development, and community-grantmaking programs, with a primary focus on leading She Is The Music—the EIF fund created by Alicia Keys, Jody Gerson, Ann Mincieli, and Sam Kirby Yoh to increase the number of women thriving across music.

Executive Director

Led the Recording Academy's renowned grantmaking and human-services charity—providing direct financial assistance to music professionals, funding community organizations, expanding services, and mobilizing historic relief for the music community.

Recording Academy / GRAMMYs

Vice President, Membership & Industry Relations

Directed a 64-person national team serving 25,000 members, modernized membership and governance systems, expanded GRAMMY voter diversity, and helped advance the Music Modernization Act.
